Advanced Pet Dental Carein Plymouth, MN
Your pet’s dental health is about far more than clean teeth. At
Northwest Animal Hospital, our
extraordinary veterinary team focuses on proactive oral care, preventing dental pain, and
protecting your pet’s overall health
for years to come.
Why Annual Dental Care Matters
Did you know most dental disease happens below the gumline where it can’t be seen? Without routine care, bacteria can move through the bloodstream and affect major organs. Dental cleanings are more than polishing teeth, they allow our veterinary team to examine the entire mouth, treat infection, and prevent bacteria from affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys.
At all
surgical procedures at NWAH, including annual dental cleanings, your pet receives a customized anesthetic plan, continuous monitoring, and comprehensive pain control from start to finish.

Safe, Individualized Dental Procedures
Every dental procedure begins with pre-anesthetic testing so the veterinary team can tailor medications and monitoring to your pet. While your pet is under general anesthesia, one of our veterinarians will perform a complete oral exam and take dental X-rays to evaluate areas below the gumline that can’t be fully seen during an awake visit.
Tartar is carefully removed with an ultrasonic scaler, and the teeth are reassessed to uncover any hidden concerns. We will also perform any extractions as needed. Most pets return home the same day with minimal downtime.
Clear explanations and home-care guidance help you continue dental prevention between visits.
Preventing Periodontal Disease with Home Dental Care
At-home dental care plays an important role in keeping your pet’s mouth healthy between professional cleanings. Brushing is the single most effective way to keep your pet's smile sparkling (and healthy)! While many pet products claim to improve dental health, not all are effective.
If you have questions about any products or need at-home cleaning tips, our team is more than happy to help.
